Money has no memory, but experience has
Ever since I took command of my life after my graduation I had been in a mad race ,chasing my so called dreams with an assumption that success, name ,fame and money will give me happiness which we all aspire to get. My life revolved around 14inch idiot box, interacting with clients sitting overseas, reading docs, writing code,
delivering the junk code, then catching the cab for home where I laid semi dead. There were no weekends, no holidays, no festivals, no celebrations, no movies and no time for friends. The entire motto of existence was simply to perform well to get good rating and promotion to move up in the corporate ladder.
In this process I had missed so many weekends with friends, marriages of relatives,
get together ,movies and the like.
In short I was missing my real purpose of existence i.e. happiness & satisfaction.
This fact would not have dawned on me, had we were not stricken by the word which sent entire world in shivers i.e. SLOWDOWN.
Yes the term is SLOWDOWN, while the entire world curses slowdown for the gloomy state of affairs, Iin fact my whole group of friends would praise it , as it came as blessing in disguise. Why ????
It helped us to connect to ourselves, give a break to our highly mechanical, monotonous & boring lives and made us enjoy one day at a time.
As the impact of recession hit India, work in offices got affected, rampant layoff around us shook us from the dream we were just living in.
It was kal Ho Na Hofeeling for us. Midst all the gloom surrounding us, be it in office, home or TV we had to find a reason to smile and enjoy life.
Thats when we all sat together and decided Guys the future is uncertain but the best part is we are together .So why not make the best of each moment 🙂
Then onwards there was no looking back. We made sure that we had at least one get together each week; Friday night was a must party day for us and we had found unique way to celebrate it in this manner (read this)..
We packed our bags and were all set for tour-de-south India.
Each weekend we would plan a trip to various places .We visited places like pondicherry, mahabalipuram, tada, ooty, yercaud, kodaikanal, tirupati, senji, zoo, famous beaches, shirdi, vellore, coimbatore, temples, amusement parks and so on.
Our office mates would envy us when we would leave office with bags on our backs, each Friday night. Oh man it was a great feeling when people unknown to us in office cafeteria would approach us and say your group is awesome guys ¦. so much masti in times like this too !!! If you dont mind can we join your group ??
So bhai log where are you going this weekend ?? 😛
The trip, fun, travelling and masti we had was awesome and the discussions about the fun and frolic across the coffee table and in chain mails were unending.
The pics we shared after the trip would keep us occupied the whole week till we took off for another one 🙂 .
My one of the best moments of Chennai stay was these couple of months when we enjoyed travelling each weekend. As time passed we moved out from that place but some of the destinations are still on our TO VISIT list.
What we started in Chennai will continue in north once we will be together again .Till then I cherish those moments by seeing the pics of each trip and talking about those moments with friends.
Especially those which were bachelors day out.
But the slowdown taught us lessons of lifetime Money, success, name & fame are worthless if you dont have anyone to share with. Our friends and families are our priceless possessions and should be our greatest priority and we should value them the most.
We should take such decisions in our life.
